Committees

The MN AMA utilizes a variety of committees to tap into the wide expanses of talent and knowledge within the marketing community. With new and unique marketing skill sets required in each committee, participants get the opportunity to not only affect change within the marketing community, but those that are moving the marketing world forward as well.

Annual Conference
This committee plans the chapter’s largest event, the Annual Conference, which takes place in the fall. Each year, the conference will focus on a different marketing topic with both nationally known and local speakers. The committee coordinates speakers, sponsors, marketing communications, logistics and day-of volunteer needs. In the past, we’ve had over 500 attendees. There are many opportunities to volunteer within this committee that touch on a wide variety of skill sets.

Collegiate Relations
The Collegiate Relations committee is focused on adding value to the various collegiate chapters of the MN AMA, which currently include Dakota County Technical College, St. Cloud State University, St. Thomas, and the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. We work with the student leaders and their members to bridge the gap between being a marketing student and being a marketing professional in their local communities. They will gain knowledge and experience through programs such as the annual scholarship, chapter grants, collegiate focused events, internships, speaker assistance, mentors and more. The Collegiate Relations committee creates added value for both the Minnesota marketing community and the marketing talent of the future.

Finance
The Finance committee is made up solely of the VP and AVP of Finance. Finance is responsible for ensuring sustained growth and stability of the chapter. They review the monthly financial reporting provided by Nonprofit Solutions to make sure the chapter as a whole as well as the individual committees are on target, comparing income and expenses to the budget throughout the year. In addition they provide planning guidance and support to board members in understanding and managing their individual committee financials.

Leadership
Leadership on the MN AMA Board is a three-year commitment, beginning with President-elect. The President-elect shadows the President and learns the ins and outs of the organization, including finances, committees and special initiatives. The President, along with the Executive committee, ensures that committee-level and organizational-level goals are met. The Immediate Past President is responsible for counsel and special projects when needed. All other board positions are two-year terms and allows for consistency within the board and exemplifies commitment to our all-volunteer, non-profit organization.

Marketing Communications
The Marketing Communications committee is responsible for the promotion of our association and its events in the local community. It includes creative development, web and social media campaigns, web analytics, public relations and general coordination of communication activities. The committee is also responsible for the job postings on the MN AMA site and distributing them to our members.

Membership
The Membership committee is responsible for growing and maintaining membership levels for the Minnesota chapter. Through a variety of events and programs, the committee aims to ensure that each member realizes the value and benefits of his/her membership. Becoming a volunteer for the Membership Committee for the MN AMA allows you to attend all membership events free and to act as membership representative for the MN AMA Chapter. You will gain experience in working with various types of members to help them make the most of their membership experience.  We are looking for volunteers that have experience in planning events, project management and most of all love attending and talking to others at events.

Programming
The Programming committee develops monthly programs and special events to address relevant topics in marketing for members from different backgrounds and experiences.  Responsibilities include planning and managing events, maintaining the programming calendar, overseeing hospitality and reservation procedures for events as well as working with the Marcom committee to promote events.  Committee members should be confident with recruiting speakers, coordinating programs, and working with board members.  Benefits of being on the Programming committee include expanding your network, uncovering opportunities to advance your marketing career, strengthening of leadership and project management talents as well as the opportunity to apply and sharpen marketing skills and techniques while adding unique experience that will stand out on your resume.

Sponsorship
It is the responsibility of the Sponsorship Committee to develop and maintain relationships between the sponsors and the association. The committee is also responsible for obtaining sponsorships and prizes for the association, assembling sponsor information packages, ensuring sponsors receive recognition at all events and all association publications, ensuring sponsor receives letter of acknowledgment upon receipt of donations and reporting on status of sponsorships to general membership meeting each month.
