Analytics: (n) The branch of logic dealing with analysis (www.thefreedictionary.com). Ok, so that would make an analyst: (n) One that analyzes.
Analysis: (n) The study of such constituent parts and their interrelationships in making up a whole. In business, analysis of data can provide answers to a variety of questions. Was this initiative profitable? What was the response rate for the new campaign? There are all kinds of management information one might analyze for your company:

For Marketing, this is necessary to make sure your campaigns represent business strategies, priorities and initiatives that align with business goals.
Typical Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing analysis of industry, refining and production statistics both from internal data and world-wide data services into meaningful reports for the Sales Department in an effort to leverage a company’s market position.
- Develop plans for and lead key initiatives that help a company to deepen relationships with their clients.
- Act as the client liaisonfor the core segment on company-wide initiatives so that the needs of the core segment are included in project and product plans.
- As time permits, explore new opportunities identified by company strategy, senior leadership or others including analyzing situations, piloting concepts, and developing business case/recommendations for new efforts.
Typical Requirements:
- Strong client focus and experience advocating for client needs.
- Strong project management skills, including demonstrated track record in managing projects across functional lines and juggling multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good business analysis skills - will be developing business cases and marketing plans for new initiatives.
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence and build strong relationships among internal and external partners.
- Self-motivated, with a well developed ability to grasp assignments and manage from inception to completion.
- Comfortable working in a fast-changing environment and ambiguity.
