Annual Conference Volunteer Openings
Annual Conference Project Manager
Work with the VP and AVP of the Annual Conference helping organize the meeting, sending reminders and keeping meeting notes and documents organized. PM will also coordinate new volunteers into roles within the Annual Conference. This position requires approximately 7-10 hours per month.
AC Experience Committee:
Help the committee leaders and conference leadership to create value and loyalty by facilitating planning execution around a specific emotional end-frame that the conference experience would leave people feeling inspired, connected and anticipated. Work with committee leaders to brainstorm elements of the experience to achieve this emotional en-frame. Critically evaluate the ideas of the overall conference theme, budget and available competencies. Work with other committee leaders to ensure deep understanding of the end-frame, particularly with regard to resource requirements and execution, and post conference experience. This is fun work – a blend of creative thinking, facilitator, and organization- essentially the role of a show producer.

AC Marcom Committee:
Help plan conference creative theme; work with design sponsor to design communications collateral; proofread and approve all text; work with print sponsor to get materials printed and ready for mailing; work with AMA Marcom Committee to design conference web site; online registration, email blasts & social media channels.

AC Speaker Committee:
Work to secure speakers; help with speaker logistics (photos, bios, AV needs, etc.); work with speaker liaisons to ensure speakers support and enhance the conference theme. This is a great committee to work on if you want to meet some of the “movers and shakers” in marketing. It is also an opportunity for detail people who want to ensure a smooth and successful experience for speakers. This is a fun work – a blend of creative thinking and organization.

AC Sponsorship Committee:
Work to secure sponsors; help with sponsor logistics (contracts, relationship, details etc.); work with sponsor liaisons to ensure sponsor support and enhance the conference theme. This is a great committee to work on if you to brush up on your sales skills. It is also an opportunity for detail people who want to ensure a smooth and successful experience for the sponsors.
Role Areas:
- Brainstorming new sponsors
- Work off existing past sponsor list.
- Work with the contract
- Manage Sponsors relationship

Marketing Communications Committee
Copywriter
Develop original ideas to communicate information according to direction provided in creative brief or required elements provided by team members. Applicant should have experience in writing copy across multiple platforms with the understanding of the importance to maintain brand integrity. This position requires approximately 5-10 hours per month.
Staff Blogger
The Staff Blogger will be responsible for developing bi-monthly blog articles for the chapter’s blog. Specifically, the staff blogger will write high-quality articles on marketing-industry related topics that are engaging to MN AMA chapter membership. These articles will focus on topics relevant to upcoming chapter events. The Staff Blogger is also responsible for submitting all new content to the chapter’s blog administrator by established deadlines. This position requires approximately 3-6 hours per month.
Blogger
A MN AMA blogger commits to writing at least one 250-350 word blog post every month to be posted on the MNAMA’s blog. Blog post need to be relevant to the marketing/communication industry and can cover events, trends, experiences, measurement, etc. Three openings available. This position requires approximately 5-8 hours per month.
Content Contributor/Community Manager
This community manager will contribute interesting and/or compelling articles, videos, blogs, etc. to the MNAMA social media outlets. They will also be responsible for monitoring ongoing discussions for appropriateness and participating in them. This position is key to making out social media efforts a two-way conversation vs. a one-way push of MNAMA information. Two openings available. This position requires approximately 8-10 hours per month.
The social media committee will have their first in-person meeting of the 2010-2011 FY on Tuesday, August 3rd from 6-8 p.m. at Dulano’s in Uptown.
Membership Committee
Acquisition/Retention Membership Volunteer
Help to make phone calls to members that are new, about to lapse or have been guests at previous events. This position requires approximately 5-10 hours per month.
Graphic Designer – Membership Projects
Work with Membership Committee volunteers to design and develop brochures, sell sheets, and direct mail pieces based on chapter brand guidelines and templates. Applicant should have experience with design using industry-standard graphics applications across multiple platforms. Great opportunity for an individual who enjoys team collaboration but also has the ability to work independently as needed.
Membership Representatives
Attend programs and reach out to members to make sure they're finding value in their membership; answer any questions about membership or benefits. Connect with non-members to discuss their professional needs and how the AMA can help; drive them to join our local chapter. Membership Representatives should attend three monthly programs per year, one networking event, and the Annual Conference. Membership Representatives will also assist with member retention calls as needed.
Programming Committee
Programming Event Manager
In this leadership position, you will contribute to the planning and management of our monthly AMA programs. Programs include speakers and panels discussing current and relevant marketing topics and trends. You will be responsible for helping us acquire speakers, brainstorm topics and manage the details and schedules of events that you manage. Leadership, event management experience, attention to detail, and self-motivation are key to the success of this great volunteer position. This position requires approximately 3-5 hours per month.
Sponsorship Committee
Committee Member
A sponsorship committee member will identify and pursue both in-kind and cash sponsors. This assistance includes developing a list and pursuing organizations that might be interested in sponsorship, following up on leads for organizations that have identified themselves as interested in sponsorship, preparing sponsorship contracts and working with the sponsorship liaison to ensure that sponsors receive all benefits of sponsorship.
This position requires approximately 4-5 hours per month plus attendance at the monthly meeting. Two to three positions are available.
Sponsorship Committee meets monthly, rotating between in-person and phone meetings. In-person meetings are the last Monday of the month, and will begin July 26 2010 at 6:00 p.m. for approximately 1-1.5 hours and typically meet at Midtown Global Market in South Minneapolis. Phone meetings will begin On Monday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. via conference call, and will be bi-monthly thereafter.
Sponsorship Representative
The Sponsorship committee is seeking volunteers who are comfortable developing and maintaining relationships between sponsors and the association. MN AMA sponsors support membership mixers, educational programming, and promotional activities for the MN AMA. Committee members should have development experience or sales experience and be motivated to build relationships and monitor the contract process. Other responsibilities will include obtaining sponsorships and prizes for the association, assembling sponsor information packages, ensuring sponsors receive recognition at all events and all association publications, ensuring sponsor receives letter of acknowledgment upon receipt of donations and reporting on status of sponsorships to general membership meeting each month.
