MN AMA’S SOCIAL MEDIA GUIDELINES:
The Minnesota Chapter of the American Marketing Association (MN AMA) encourages all members to use its social media outlets (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube and the MN AMA Blog) to interact, share, and begin discussions with other AMA members and professionals in the marketing, public relations and communications field.
These guidelines are designed to provide definition around what is acceptable and unacceptable when posting any comments, news or discussions on the MN AMA’s social media outlets. They originated from bryanperson.com and have been adapted for the MN AMA social media community.
BE TRANSPARENT
- When commenting or participating in a discussion, make clear who you are, who you represent and that your opinions are your own.
- When posting information on the MN AMA social media outlets, please provide proper credit to the original publisher.
BE RESPECTFUL
- The MN AMA encourages members to express their opinions, but in a professional manner.
- PERSONAL ATTACKS, HARASSMENT, CULTURAL INSENSITIVITY, DISCRIMINATION AND OBSCENE LANGUAGE ARE PROHIBITED FROM BEING USED ON THE ANY MN AMA SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLET.
- The MN AMA is a networking and professional group. Our social media outlets are there to share interesting information, best practices, relevant industry trends, make connections with other professionals and post questions, or share new ideas related to the marketing profession. The MN AMA social media outlets are not designed to be a sales outlet, NO SOLICITING.
- The MN AMA is open to consider and honor co-promotion requests.
- All non-AMA event posting requests must be e-mailed to our Chapter President (Andrew Chollar) for approval before posting. Non-AMA event postings without previous approval will be considered in violation of the MN AMA's social media network policy and such postings will be removed immediately from our network.
- The MN AMA has a Job Board on the MN AMA website: http://careers.mnama.org.
- All job opportunities and job inquires should be posted in the job board, not on the MN AMA’s social media outlets.
- THE MN AMA RESERVES THE RIGHTS TO RESTRICT MEMBERS' USAGE OF OUR SOCIAL NETWORK FOR POLICY VIOLATION.
BE YOURSELF
- The MN AMA values its members’ personalities and individual interests; let that personality shine through in your online content!
BE SMART
- Your words and statements online are a reflection of you and the MN AMA. Use your best judgment when deciding whether content is appropriate to post.
The MN AMA hopes that all members can use our social media outlets to collaborate and build relationships with the professional community around them. Please feel free to post interesting information, articles, or start a compelling discussion.
Happy Social Networking!
